Meet Heather Lanier

“I consider myself lucky, as I get to do what I love each and every day. My work allows me to help people in all phases of life overcome challenges and find success. After all, life is about progress not perfection.

I enjoy working with patients of all ages with a wide variety of conditions, including  ADHD, behavioral disorders, depression, bipolar, anxiety, family conflict, adjustment disorders, PTSD and substance abuse, just to name a few. My therapeutic approach is person-centered and often integrated. I meet patients where they are and work with them to make positive changes that will move them forward in life.

I use the following treatment modalities: cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, trauma focused-CBT, LENS, EMDR and strengths perspective. I enjoy working alongside patients to enhance their strengths and motivate positive and healthy changes. My goal in therapy is to build healthy coping skills, while helping patients process emotions, so they can be the best they can be. I love my work and feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with patients and families in my community.”

Background

Background

I grew up in Pender County (NC) and moved to New Hanover County for several years, then returned to Pender to raise my family. I began my practice as a therapist in 2005 and joined Trinity Wellness in 2012. In my career I have worked in a wide variety of mental healthcare settings, including mental health centers, community mental health agencies and, of course, private practice. In addition, I work as a clinical supervisor for provisional licensed social workers.

I married my wonderful husband in 2005 (I guess that might show my age), and together we enjoy our life in Hampstead. We enjoy outdoor activities, including being on the water. We are active in our church and enjoy the company of family and friends. God has blessed us by making us the parents of two wonderful, school-age boys. I look forward to meeting and working with you and your family.
