Tailar Murphy, MSN, PMHNP-BC, WHNP-BC
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
I discovered my passion for healthcare while in college and decided to pursue a career in advanced practice nursing. I became particularly interested in the intersection of psychiatry and women’s health during my time working as a CNA at a neuropsychiatric clinic in Durham, NC. I then obtained my Masters of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University and began working in the field of women’s health in 2019.
My experiences at the beginning of my career, working first in oncology and then at a crisis center for women, fueled my passion for psychiatric care and compelled me to further my education in mental health. I am excited to have the opportunity to provide holistic, evidence-based psychiatric care to clients with various mental health needs in the Wilmington area. I am especially passionate about working with women, due to the unique psychosocial and biological factors that impact women’s mental health. Throughout my time working in healthcare, women have often shared with me that they have not felt safe or understood within healthcare spaces. My purpose is to provide a safe and inviting space for each of my clients so that they can feel empowered to make positive changes and achieve their mental health goals.
In my free time, I enjoy knitting, going to the beach, exercising, and taking trips to Asheville for rock climbing and hiking with my husband and our dog, Stella.
